Good to Know
-
Yes, for the house. The house is seen only on a guided tour, in groups of no more than 15, at set times. Places are limited, so please book ahead. Garden tickets can also be bought on the day, subject to space. Online booking for tours opens in January 2027.
-
No. Place is a family home, and the inside is seen only by those on a guided tour led by the family. For the same reason, photography inside the house is not permitted.
-
There is no visitor parking at Place. Please use the Fowey town car parks, all within a short walk. House and garden visitors enter through the Porphyry gate off Cobb's Well. For Plays at Place, please use the white gate on Place Road.
-
Place is inherently challenging for visitors with reduced mobility, with steep slopes, gravel drives and many steps both inside and outside the house. Porphyry Hall, the first room of the house tour, has level access, so our Porphyry Hall & Gardens ticket (£15) is a good choice for visitors with reduced mobility. Unfortunately the rest of the house is not suitable for those with reduced mobility. One essential companion or carer is admitted free. Please get in touch if you'd like to talk through your visit.

Dogs are welcome in the grounds, on a lead, and we ask owners to pick up after them. Only assistance dogs can come inside the house.
